Acceptable use

WishWhip makes small apps and puts them on the web for anyone with the link. Most things people ask for are fine, but a few can't go live here, because they could hurt the people who use them. These rules apply to what you describe, to the apps made from it, and to what those apps show people. We judge what an app does, not its topic. If a live app needs to change, we tell you what and why, and in most cases give you time to fix it.

What you can make, and what you can't

Trackers, lists, quizzes, calculators, games, and small tools for your family or your clients are all welcome. Topics are open: a quiz that teaches people to spot phishing, a crypto price chart, or a fan page that says it's unofficial are all fine. If you're not sure about an idea, email us (help@wishwhip.app) before you make it.

These can't go live here:

  1. Apps that ask for passwords, card numbers or sign-in details and send them anywhere else, or that copy the look of a real company's sign-in or payment page. People type real secrets into pages that look real, and apps here can't keep those secrets safe.
  2. Apps that pretend to be a real company, organisation or person, or that could easily be mistaken for one. People trust a name they know. Say clearly when something is unofficial.
  3. Anything that offers programs or files to install, or that tries to harm a visitor's device. We can't check what a download does once it leaves the app.
  4. Scams: crypto, investment, prize or giveaway schemes, and anything built to trick people out of money. The people who lose money are rarely the ones who made the app.
  5. Sexual content, and anything that is illegal where you or the app's visitors are. Apps here are open to anyone with the link, including children who are sent it.
  6. Apps that target, threaten, shame or harass a person or a group. The people it's about never agreed to be in it.
  7. Pages made to game search engines, or filler produced in bulk. It crowds out the apps people actually use.

Also not allowed

  • Collecting other people's personal details without telling them clearly what is collected and why.
  • Using WishWhip to attack, overload or break into other services.
  • Getting around our limits or checks, for example with several accounts, or by describing one app and changing it into another after it's live.
  • Anything else that breaks the law or puts people at risk, even if it isn't listed here.

How we check

Every app is checked before it goes live by an automatic check, when you describe the app, when you ask for a change, and again when it's built. That check decides on its own whether a built app can go live. When it finds a clear problem, the app can't go live.

When the check isn't sure, or can't run, it flags the app. The app can still go live, and a person on our side looks at it afterwards. A person on our side also looks again at any live app someone reports.

If an app breaks these rules

If an app breaks these rules before it's live, it can't go live. If it's already live, we follow the steps below. Either way, we email you the reason and say whether the automatic check decided, and you can reply to that email for a person to look again.

If we ask you to change an app that is already live, it stays live while you do, and you have 7 days. The Terms of use say more.

We keep a copy of a removed app for 30 days, and its code stays yours to download in that time. When the code itself is the harm, such as a copied sign-in page, harmful software or illegal content, we don't offer it. We close an account only for illegal content, harm to other people or abuse of WishWhip, or after we remove 3 of your apps within 6 months. The Terms of use say more.

If a live app needs to change

  1. We write to you. We say what needs to change, why, and by when. You have 7 days to fix it, and your app stays live while you do. If you need longer, ask, and you get 7 more days, once.
  2. If it isn't fixed, we may pause it. The people who open it see a short page saying it's paused. You keep its page, its code and every version, and you have 14 days to fix it. The change that fixes it doesn't count toward your month. We may also pause an app straight away when the problem is serious, or while we check a report about passwords, money or someone's safety.
  3. If it still isn't fixed, we may remove it. We may also remove it if we pause it again for the same reason within 6 months. The people who open it see that it's no longer available. We keep a copy for 30 days, and in that time we can bring it back as it was. You can download its code for those 30 days too.
  4. We remove an app straight away only for illegal content, harm to others or abuse of WishWhip. We still email you the reason, and you can still reply. When the code itself is the harm, such as a copied sign-in page, harmful software or illegal content, we don't offer it.

A person on our side decides each step; nothing moves on to the next one by itself. The steps are the same on every plan, Free included.

If you think we got it wrong

Reply to our email, or email us (help@wishwhip.app). A person reads every reply, usually within a day. If you reply about a step above, we tell you what we decided within 3 days.

You can reply up to 6 months after we remove an app. If we got it wrong, we undo what we did. The Terms of use say more.

Seen an app that breaks these rules?

Report it, or email us (help@wishwhip.app) with the app's link and what's wrong. A person will look at it, usually within a day. If you've already typed a password or card number into an app like that, change that password or call your bank now.
