How it works

What happens after you describe an app, how long each part takes, and what the people who use it see.

From a sentence to a link

You describe one small app in a sentence. It then goes through five stages, and its page always shows which one it's in.

  1. Planning: working out what to build. If something you asked for won't fit, its page says so under “Not in this version”.
  2. Building: making your app and trying it as it goes.
  3. Checking: opening it in a browser and trying every part to make sure it works.
  4. Review: a check looks at what it does against our rules. A person on our side looks at anything it flags.
  5. Live: we host it at its own link, and anyone with that link can use it.

Planning, building and checking usually take 15–45 minutes together. You can close the tab; we'll email you when it's built.

One app at a time

One app builds at a time, so you can start the next one when it's done. On Studio, 2 apps can build at once when there is room.

Your month

Free gives one app, yours to keep. Maker gives 600 credits a month, Studio 1,500. A new app usually uses about 20 credits, and a change about 10. Bigger apps use more.

You pay only for what each uses, and the month resets on the 1st. A stop caused by a problem on our side doesn't count.

If an app needs more room, it asks first. On a paid plan, add credits: $3 for 100, from 200.

Our check and your link

When it's built and checked, look it over. If it's what you wanted, choose “Go live”.

Before it goes live, a check looks at it against our rules. If it finds a clear problem, it can't go live, and we tell you why. Otherwise you get its link.

If the check isn't sure, it still goes live, and a person on our side looks afterwards. A person also reads every report about an app.

Changing it later

Use “Change something” on its page and describe the change. People keep using the current version until the change goes live.

Every version is kept. You can restore an earlier one at the same link.

You can download its code at any time, and delete the app whenever you like. We keep a copy for 30 days in case you change your mind.

What the people who use it see

They open the link. They need no account, and what they save stays on their device, in their browser. Something leaves it only when they use a feature that says so, like moving their data to another device with a code.

Each app ends with one small line: “Made with WishWhip · Report”. Report reaches a person on our side.

We count how often an app is opened, without cookies and without knowing who opened it.

What is coming later

These are not in this version yet: signing people in with accounts, one list that several people change together, and taking payments. There are no dates for them yet.

Apps also can't send emails or texts.

If you ask for one of these, its page says so before it's built, under “Not in this version”.

How to reach us

Email help@wishwhip.app with a question or a problem. A person reads every message and answers, usually within a day.

To report an app, use the Report link at the bottom of it, or the report page.
